First AId

Emergency First Aid

You will cover:


  • The roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aider       
  • Assessing an incident
  • Managing an unresponsive casualty 
  •   CPR and defibrillation
  • Recovery position
  • Choking
  • Seizures
  • Shock
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Minor Injuries
  • Cuts, grazes and bruises
  • Minor burns and scalds


Learning outcome: 


  • Gain essential skills needs to give safe, prompt and effective first aid
  • Know what action should be taken in the event of an emergency
  • Knowing what action to take on a range of other first aid situations

SYFA Sports First Aid

You will cover:

 

  • The role of the first aider
  • Legal aspects and responsibilities
  • Duty of care regarding children and young people
  • First Aid at sporting events
  • First aid kit requirements
  • Sending for help and personal safety- assessing for danger
  • Basic Life support guidance and assessment as per latest ERC guidance
  • Use of an AED
  • Recovery position
  • Management of the unconscious casualty
  • Action for vomiting, choking, heart attack
  • Spinal injuries
  • Limb injury including sprains, strains, factures and breaks
  • Bleeding and bandaging
  • Management of shock
  • Anaphylaxis and the use of an epi-pen auto injector
  • Management of conditions applicable to sport- asthma, diabetes, seizures, stroke
  • Management of environmental factors


Learning outcome: 


  •  Understand the role, responsibilities, and limitations of a sports first aider 
  • Follow guidelines and best practice in youth football environments
  • Conduct a primary survey (DRABC) to identify life‑threatening conditions
  • Carry out a secondary survey to assess injuries and gather information
  • Provide CPR to adults and children
  • Use an AED safely and effectively
  • Manage an unresponsive casualty, including placing them in the recovery position
  • Recognize and treat sprains, strains, fractures, dislocations, and soft‑tissue injuries
  • Apply appropriate immobilisation techniques
  • Understand and apply principles such as RICE/PRICE
  • Recognize and manage head injuries and concussion in line with SYFA expectations
  • Respond to medical emergencies such as asthma attacks, anaphylaxis, diabetes

First Aid & Basic Life Support

You will cover:

  

  • Knowing what action should be taken in the event of an emergency occurring at work
  • Has been shown cardiopulmonary resuscitation methods
  • Has been shown how to deal with an unconscious casualty
  • Has been shown how to use an AED correctly
  • Knowing the correct actions to take with regard to control of wounds and bleeding
  • Knowing the action to take on a range of other first aid situations
  • Knowing how first aid stocks should be maintained and the contents of boxes


Learning outcome: 

  

  • List Actions to be taken in the event of an emergency occurring at work
  • Use cardiopulmonary resuscitation methods, including use of an AED
  • Provide first aid to an unconscious casualty
  • Provide first aid to a choking casualty
  • Describe the correct actions to control of wounds and bleeding
  • Train others in emergency first aid basic life support requirements within their healthcare working environment
  • Lead a practical based group training session on basic life support
